Working together for today and the future

NGAHINAPOURI

Ngahinapouri is a small community situated approximately 15 km south west of Hamilton, and was first settled in 1867.  The village is centred around Stewart Reid Memorial Park and Ngahinapouri School, with nearby facilities including tennis courts, a community hall, a golf club and until recently, a church.  Waipa District Council has identified Ngahinapouri as a growth cell in ‘Waipa 2050’.

Farmers and lifestylers make up the majority of our families, providing a great sense of community spirit,  with active engagement from many in the wide range of sporting, school based and community activities that take place.

COMMUNITY GROUP

The  Ngahinapouri  Community  Group  was  established in early 2013 with the aim of co-ordinating and integrating a  number  of  independent projects being considered around the village.  These projects present a  ‘once  in  a  generation  opportunity’  to develop assets and infrastructure for the overall benefit of the community.

The group is made up of a cross section of volunteer representatives from the community, and meets regularly to discuss progress toward our strategic goals of

  • Creating a focal point for on-going community activity

  • Ensuring the community is engaged in the development and future use of the facilities

  • Providing facilities that will meet population growth aligned with the Waipa 2050 plan
